FCC certification reveals Motorola Edge 16 Pro
Motorola Edge 16 Pro's 125W
The recently leaked Motorola Edge 16 Pro made headlines last week when it was spotted on the company’s official website, but it seems like we now know even more about this upcoming model courtesy of an FCC certification filing.
Motorola has already announced that the Edge 16 Pro will support 18W fast charging, so this new 125W fast charging capability comes as quite the surprise. Considering that Motorola offers just 15W fast charging on its current models, 125W should allow the Edge 16 Pro to charge extremely quickly when hooked up to a compatible charger.
1) The device will support 25W wired and wireless charging
Motorola has officially announced that their upcoming smartphone, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro will support 25W wired and wireless charging.
The FCC certification for the phone revealed that the device will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
It will also have an 8MP selfie camera, a 48MP rear-facing camera, an in-display fingerprint scanner, a 6.4 QHD+ OLED display with 10% more screen space than the previous version and a 3060mAh battery that supports fast charging at 25W both wirelessly and wired. Motorola's upcoming flagship smartphone is set to be released in late September.
The company has been focusing on delivering high end smartphones with premium specs and features at reasonable prices. Motorola Edge 40 Pro is going to be its newest addition to the budget price range of smartphones; it's clear from the leaked specifications that this device packs a lot into its small frame.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro will run on Android 9 Pie (upgradeable to Android 10), which means it'll come loaded with Google Lens integration, smart replies, adaptive brightness adjustment and auto rotating navigation keys just like all other new devices from Android One program.
2) It will come with a 4,780mAh battery
Motorola has been rumored to release a new device in the Motorola Edge line, called the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. The FCC filing for this phone was published and revealed some new information about the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. One of those pieces of information is that it will come with a 4,780mAh battery.
This is smaller than what we have seen in other devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or the OnePlus 6T, which both offer an 8,000mAh battery. But it could be that Motorola wanted to keep costs down by opting for a smaller battery so they could sell the phone at a lower price point.
This is just speculation on my part though since we don't know how much the phone will cost yet. We do know that the Motorola Edge 40 Pro will come with two cameras, one rear-facing camera and one front-facing camera. We also know from previous leaks from @evleaks that the Motorola Edge 40 pro comes with a 3D sculpted glass back panel design as well as a waterdrop notch design.
All of these features are more common among newer phones on the market today but they aren't necessarily too innovative.
The real reason people would want to buy this phone is because of its fast charging capabilities thanks to its Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support: up to 18 watts.
3) The phone will have a 6.67-inch display
Motorola is known for their phones with big screens. And now we are getting the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, which will have a 6.67-inch display (according to the FCC certification). The phone is expected to come out in Q3 of 2019.
What makes this phone so special? One of its main features, besides the large size and 4G LTE capabilities, is that it has an AC adapter in the box that supports 125 watts of power input. With this feature, you should be able to charge your battery quickly. Plus, there are sensors on board that work well if you plan on using Google Assistant or other services requiring this function.
4) It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC
Motorola recently unveiled its latest and greatest smartphone, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro. The phone features a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080x2280 resolution and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC and have 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage (which can be expanded via microSD).
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro also has stereo speakers, 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB 3.1 Type-C support. And finally it features a 3700mAh battery with 25W rapid charger support for up to 7 hours of use or 1 hour of talk time on just 10 minutes of charge.
5) The phone will run on Android 10
Motorola has revealed that their newest phone, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, will be a device running on Android 10. The new OS was just released by Google and Motorola is the first company to release a phone with it.
Along with having Android 10, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro also has an edge-to-edge screen which makes for a more immersive experience when watching movies or playing games. With its high-res screen and powerful processor, this new phone is sure to be a hit!
