While playing the latest Pokemon games, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, I noticed several things that didn’t make sense to me, so I decided to create this list of 15 Things That Make No Sense In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. I hope you enjoy!

1) Why is Professor Oak in charge of the Gym?

Professor Oak is in charge of the Gym because he is a scientist, not a fighter. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not. Professor Oak has absolutely no interest in being a Gym leader and he even says that it's too much work for him to do so. However, he is still the head of Pallet Town's gym with his grandson Gary (aka Blue) as one of its trainers.

It doesn't make sense that Professor Oak is in charge of the gym because he does not have any interest in fighting and he does not want to be in charge of the gym. It also doesn't make sense that Professor Oak would give away training to his grandson, which would be like giving away your job to your child just because they are your family member.

2) How did Giovanni get his Persian back?

In the original Red and Blue, Giovanni's Persian was a gift from Team Rocket scientists. Since these events took place before the Sevii Islands became accessible in Pokémon Crystal, it is likely that Giovanni obtained his Persian by other means. The Persian is then given to him as a symbol of loyalty.

In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, however, Giovanni's Persian was replaced with an Alakazam because no trade could be made between Generation I and Generation III. This left many fans wondering how he got his Persian back in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald; but that question has never been answered.

3) How did Team Rocket take over the Silph Co. building?

The Silph Co. building is a skyscraper located in Saffron City. It's the world's largest producer of Poke Balls and other goods, so it makes sense that Team Rocket would want to take it over. But how did they manage to do it? Here are 15 theories:

1) They created fake identities and got hired as the company's employees.

2) They walked past security without being noticed (it was late at night).

3) They hacked into their computer system and took control of everything from there.

4) The company CEO decided he wanted to sell his company for reasons unknown, and sold it to them for cheap, with the understanding that Team Rocket would never be found out.

4) How did Jessie and James get their original Pokemon back?

I'm not going to spoil anything so I'll say this much: after the events of the first episode, Jessie and James are granted their original Pokemon from Professor Oak. How he came to have them back is never explained, and it doesn't make sense for a variety of reasons. It's not in any way realistic that they would be given back to them considering how badly they treated them and what they did with them. The fact that they were granted these Pokemon would give off the impression that Professor Oak knew about their evil plans all along.

5) Who was controlling the Ditto that created the clones?

There are many unanswered questions in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, but this is one of the biggest. The answer to this question not only impacts on the story arc, it also has a huge impact on what other details make sense and which details don't. The series never answered who was controlling the Ditto that created the clones because those chapters were never made.

6) How did the clones know the same moves as the originals?

In the original Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow games, all of the Pokémon were randomly generated. In contrast, in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet you can pick up a Pokémon that is an exact replica of the first one. This raises many questions about the clones' origins and how they obtained these Pokémon moves. One possibility is that perhaps there are multiple trainers who are doing this same thing with their cloned creatures or there could be some kind of cloning group trafficking in rare Pokés.

7) Where did the clones come from?

The clones in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet came from a long line of replications going all the way back to Emerald and Ruby. Though we know little about the experimental lab where they were made, it is suggested that it has been around for years and has mastered the technology of cloning. The game does not explore why or how this lab became so skilled in cloning - only that this is how the clones came to be.

8) How did Team Rocket get so many new members?

Team Rocket is always recruiting in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. You can find their recruitment posters all over the place, or they'll even come to your house and try to convert you! It's possible that they have a deal with the government because it seems like they're everywhere and they never seem to run out of members. The only problem is that if you ever do join Team Rocket, your family will be pretty mad at you.

9) How did Jessie and James get new uniforms?

One of the most notable changes in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the appearance of Jessie and James. Instead of their regular outfits, they are wearing new uniforms. However, how did they get new uniforms so quickly? Did they have a spare set lying around? Did someone buy them a set? Did they just steal them from someone else? These are all questions that cannot be answered by the show.

10) How did Meowth learn to talk?

How Meowth learned to talk is never explained in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. We assume that Meowth's ability to speak human language has something to do with whatever experiment the man he talked about was carrying out. I was looking for information on just what experiment the man was conducting, but couldn't find any definitive answer. 
Meanwhile, in other aspects of the game, it is difficult not to notice just how uncreative this generation of Pokemon are.

11) What happened to Gary's mom?

In the original series, Gary's mom is in the Kanto region and his dad is busy with work. While in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, Gary's dad is at home and his mom is somewhere else—whether that's another region or country. Fans are so confused about this change since Gary had always been shown with his mom in the past, even through remakes such as FireRed and LeafGreen, which happened to take place before the first Pokemon games.

12) How did Gary get a Scizor?

Gary's Scizor is one of the most baffling additions to an already convoluted series. There are two schools of thought on how he got his Scizor, both of which are ridiculous in their own right.

13) What is the deal with TR's secret base?

It's not entirely clear what the point of TR's secret base is. At one point, it seems to be used as a home for the player, with a bed and computer, but then it just sits there in the middle of nowhere with no apparent purpose. It was originally intended to be a place where you could go after beating all the gyms, but this idea was scrapped in favor of the Elite Four.

14) How did Butch and Cassidy get new partners?

Butch and Cassidy are the reformed former Team Rocket members from the original games. They were last seen in Johto battling against the player. The first two times you fight them, they both have an Eevee on their team. The third time you fight them, Butch has a Vaporeon and Cassidy has an Umbreon. After that, they're never seen or mentioned again in any of the games. How did they get new partners?

15) What happened to the GS Ball?

The GS Ball was a major plot point in the first generation of Pokemon games, but by the time you get to the third generation, it's nowhere to be found. It's never mentioned what happened to it. The last time we saw it was when Professor Oak told us he gave it back to Giovanni and that he'll be hearing from him soon. What happened? We don't know!
