Google Chat Rolls Out Conversation Summaries So You Never Miss A Message
Google Chat
4) If there is no text from either party, then that person's picture will show up instead of an empty space.
5) From now on when someone sends you a message or notifies you about something happening on Google like being mentioned in another post, then the summary will appear so that you can quickly see what they've been saying without scrolling through all their messages.
6) These messages are only seen by whoever sent them to you and not anyone else who may be viewing your profile unless they have also selected enable conversation summaries.
What Are The Benefits?
The benefits of the new messages summary feature are numerous. For starters, there will be fewer missed messages because Google will now give you a summary of what your friend just wrote to you in chat. The summary will include the message itself and a timestamp for when it was sent. It will also include your friend's profile picture and name (provided that you have their phone number saved). The extra information will make it easier to identify who is messaging you.
How To Get Started
To enable conversation summaries, go to Google's chat settings and tick the box next to Show me a summary of my chats. Note that this only works for Android devices and not for iOS.
For those who want to turn it off, just untick the box.
To see your summary, scroll down on your phone until you see the text Summarize chats. Tap on it and you'll get a rundown of all your past conversations. Just tap on one of them and you'll be taken to the specific message in your chat history.
Conclusion
This is a great way to ensure you never miss a message, while also keeping your chats organized and clutter-free. The conversations are summarized in your inbox and can be found under the Conversations tab.
There's no way of going back in time to see old messages so it's important to make sure you don't miss anything by using this feature! Once activated, this new feature will automatically show summaries for any group chats with more than 10 participants. If you're looking for even more summary coverage there are some ways to do that too: Filters help you organize things by person or subject line. To filter on a particular subject line (such as package delivery), go into the Settings > Incoming Messages tab > tap Include specific words or phrases.
