How to Customise Your Always-on Display on the New iPhone 14 Pro
iPhone 14 Pro
The Always-on Display has been one of the best features on the new iPhone 14 Pro, but if you want to take it up a notch, you’ll want to know how to customise it as much as possible. The feature that allows you to do this has been somewhat under the radar, but once you find it, you can do all kinds of fun things with your phone’s screen when it’s sleeping. Here’s how to customise your Always-on Display on the iPhone 14 Pro.
Open the Settings app
In order to customise your always-on display, you will need to open up the Settings app. Scroll down until you find Always On Display and tap on it. Here, you will be able to change what you want displayed on your always-on screen by tapping Always On Display. You can select from a variety of things including: battery life, time, date and more. To further customise this feature, there are also many other options that can be changed in this settings area.
These include turning off the always-on display when charging (this is handy as it stops your battery draining), as well as altering how much information is shown on the always-on display. For example, if you would like to see notifications but not any other data then tap Show More Notifications so only notification information is shown. If notifications are not important to you at all then make sure Show More Notifications is turned off so nothing is shown
Tap Display & Brightness
You'll find this feature in Settings > General > Accessibility > Face ID (or Touch ID) & Passcode. This is where you can configure your Always-on Display - the feature that displays information such as time, date, battery status, and calendar events when your screen is off. You can choose from a variety of different clock styles, colours and information overlays.
If you're looking for an even more customised experience, you can also set who can see what data on your Always-on Screen by choosing a list of contacts from your phone's Contacts app. To do this, tap Always-on Display > Edit Contact List. Choose up to 12 contacts from your list then tap Done to save.
Now any of these 12 people will be able to view all the data on your Always-on Display no matter what they do with their passcode settings! And if you want to change it up again at some point in the future, go back into Settings > General > Accessibility > Face ID (or Touch ID) & Passcode and select Edit Contact List again. From here, just tap each contact's name that you want to change or remove them altogether.
The new Always-on Display is one of my favourite features of iOS14 because it means I don't have to turn my iPhone around so much just to check if I need milk or not!
