Google Chat Rolls Out Conversation Summaries So You Never Miss A Message
Google Chat
When you’re chatting with someone on Google Hangouts or Facebook Messenger, it’s not always easy to keep track of the important details of your conversation. To help remedy this issue, Google has announced that it will roll out conversation summaries in its Chat feature that allows users to read an overview of every message they’ve exchanged with each person they chat with regularly.
Once the rollout begins next week, messages will begin appearing as conversation snapshots, showing you key bits of information like when your friend messaged you and any photo or video attachments they might have sent along.
Introduction
Technology is constantly changing and this brings great benefits. The Chats service that Google provides has received a new addition which promises to make it easier to stay connected with friends and family. With Google Conversation summaries, you can skip reading the messages or sending the one-word responses with some ease.
These summaries are generated by Google so it's not just about skimming, but instead skimming your chats for you in order to summarize the most important details of your conversations. They may show what was last said, who replied to whom and how many characters have been typed. They even have an updates tab where all your chat notifications will be collected.
Plus, they have a read more button on every message if you want to go into more detail. As well as being able to tap on links right from the chat, without having to copy them or visit them on another app first!
What Is Google Chat?
If you're a Google user, you're probably familiar with the company's popular email service. However, did you know that they also offer a chat service? If not, it's time to get acquainted. Google Chat is a free messaging service on the web that lets you talk to your contacts in real time. It allows up to ten people to video conference at once and includes all of the features of Gmail chat: text, audio, video and file-sharing.
All messages are archived so it's easy to go back and review what was said or find an old message from someone. Messages will also automatically be summarized for you so that you never miss an important message--even if your friends like to type long messages! The summary appears as a headline and can be expanded to see the entire conversation. The summaries give you just enough information without being overwhelming--a very useful tool for those who have missed some detail because they were too busy checking their phone.
How Does It Work?
We often find ourselves in the situation of having too many conversations going on at once. It's easy to get distracted and forget what we were talking about or which conversation we are supposed to be participating in. Google is addressing this problem with a new feature called conversation summaries.
This new feature will provide you with a quick summary of your last message or notification. This will help you remember where you left off in your chat and make it easier for you to stay connected.
1) To enable this option, open the chat that you want to update with the conversation summary feature and click on the 3 dots icon in the top right corner.
2) Select Enable Conversation Summary.
3) If the person you're chatting with also has enabled their conversation summary, then a box appears below the text box showing how much time has passed since either of you have typed anything.
